Pacth and Yellow (A short story)

A tree was all Patch could use to get away from the dog's snapping jaws. Her black and white fur had already been torn badly. The women had picked her up by the tail, and it still hurt. She ran up the tree as fast as she could. The dog barked for what seemed like forever, then a little boy came and took it away. Patch climbed down the tree, and started to look for water. When she found some, it tasted of dirt and it was warm, but she drank it anyway. She needed food and shelter now. A house was her old home, but now she had been treated the way she had been, and she would never again dare go back to there. Now only if she could get this collar off.... Patch kicked with her hind leg on the red collar. It was still on, so she tried to bite it off. Then, she saw a nice home, at least for now. It was a small cave, and it looked cozy and warm.

Now, Patch was waking up to find a orange tom cat looking up at her. He had blue eyes, and Patch could feel herself falling on to his gaze. Then she stopped herself. She was in his home, most likely. "Am I in your home? I'm sorry!" Patch mewed, panic starting to rise up in her. "Nah, it's not really mine. I just need a nice place to rest." Said the tom, licking her paw, and rubbing it on his ear. "I'm Patch, pleased to meet you." Said Patch. The orange tabby cat smiled at her. "I'm Yellow. Nice to meet you too." Patch gulped. "Do you live with humans?" She asked. Yellow hissed. "Never! I hate them!" Patch nodded. "I do too. ?But then, what do you eat?" Yellow licked his tail, and replied, "Easy. Come on, I'll show you." He got up and started out of the cave.

When both cats were there, Patch saw a tall women feeding the cats that gathered around. Patch knew what the food was; it looked a lot like chicken, and it smelled wonderful. Without thinking, Patch ran over to the women and mewed like a kitten. The women looked down, and saw a black and white cat with a red collar on starring up at her. "Are you lost? Oh my..Let's see that collar." Said the human. Patch knew what was going to happen, so she ran back to Yellow as fast as she could.

When Patch had eaten and she and Yellow agreed to go to find a new home together, Patch knew she was in love with Yellow.
They walked and ran, walked and ran, till one day, they came across a pack of dog's. Then, Yellow was in a circle of dog's, just waiting to bite his ears off. Patch had to save him! She looked around wildly, till she just jumped on one of the dog's. "No, Patch! Just go! Now! RAN!" Yellow cried. "No! I'm not giving in!" Patch yelled back. The dog shock her off, then turned and racked his claws on Patch's fur. After having lots of new pains, Patch knew she had to do something else. She spotted a log: Not to heavy looking, and perfect to climb. She picked up the log in her jaws, and then a small stone, and set the log on the stone. Then she ran to the other side and jumped on it, making the side that was up go down. She then ran back to the other side and pushed on the log, making it go in to the dog's area. Yellow saw the log and ran up it. Then, Patch and Yellow ran and ran for what seemed like forever.

When they came to a stop, Yellow was panting, his eyes still wide with fear. "I'm so sorry! You could have gotten yourself killed back there." He gasped. "But I didn't, did I?" Patch meowed, licking her paw. "I have something to say," She said shutting her eyes. Yellow just blinked. "I...I love you. I want to have kittens together, and I want to be together. Please, Yellow, understand." Yellow looked at her for what seemed like forever, then said, "I love you to Patch." Is what he whispered.

Later:
Patch had three kittens, one black, one white, and one orange. The black one's name was Smokey, a girl. The white one was Snow, also a girl, and the orange one is a boy named Tiger. They found a nice little place to live, where a little girl feeds them, and a lake is nearby so they can get a drink. And they all lived happily ever after.
THE END.

  1. I like this story! I'm glad it has a happy ending. It makes me feel sad that they had such bad experiences with people, though. Poor kitties.
